Massage Therapy

Massage therapy consists primarily of hands-on manipulation of the soft tissue of the body, specifically the muscles, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments and joints for the purpose of optimizing health.

Massage therapy treatment has a therapeutic effect on the body and optimizes health and well-being by acting on the muscular, nervous and circulatory systems. Physical function can be developed, maintained and improved;  and physical dysfunction and pain and the effects of stress can be relieved or prevented through the use of Massage Therapy.

All our Massage Therapists are registered with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario.

We can handle a variety of conditions and injuries from head to toe including Headaches, Frozen shoulder, Carpal Tunnel, Sciatica, Knee Pain, Plantar Fasciitis and more!

  • Modern massage techniques can be traced back to the 1700′s and the development of Swedish massage, the first systematic method of therapeutic massage based on physiology. Today’s Massage Therapists use their knowledge of anatomy and physiology to combine traditional Swedish and modern Massage Therapy techniques with exercise and other therapies to treat their clients.  Our Massage Therapists are trained in multiple modalities that will enhance your Massage Therapy experience.

  • What is Orthopedic Massage Therapy?

Orthopedic Massage Therapy is a multidisciplinary approach to relieving muscular and soft tissue pain, dysfunction, and injuries.  It is also utilized to help clients regain and improve their health and fitness. A multidisciplinary approach is far more powerful than any single technique or form of treatment.

Pioneered and developed by internationally renowned massage therapist James Waslaski, Orthopedic Massage Therapy uses three major processes:
    • Functional musculoskeletal assessment
    • Customized deep tissue and fascia massage
    • Systematic strength and stretch training and exercises

Phil Hatton RMT is being mentored and being a teaching assisstant to James Waslaski

  • Pregnancy massages are meant to promote relaxation, the relief of a strained back, and the soothing of nerves. The second and the third trimesters of pregnancy are when a pregnancy massage is most beneficial to a woman, because those trimesters are when the additional weight in a woman’s belly puts more strain and pressure on her back.

Prenatal massage is massage therapy that is especially tailored to an expectant mother’s demands. Prenatal massage is different from a regular massage in that a new mother’s body has to be positioned as well as supported in the right way;  this is achieved by utilizing pillows and some padding.  Padding and the right pillows ensure that both the mother as well as the baby are comfortable.

  • By creating suction and vacuum pressure, Massage Cupping is used to soften tight muscles and tone attachments, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, move deep inflammation to the skin surface for release and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways.

Massage Cupping therapy is incredibly versatile and the basic movements can easily be customized to accomplish a wide variety of techniques, from lymphatic drainage to deep tissue release. This complements many health modalities ranging from spa treatments and medical massage to chiropractic, physical and occupational therapies.
